SO bummed they went to the iPad screen. Aesthetically not much different.

I like very much.

Steering wheel looks strange. Not sure why they need 3 screens: gauges, infotainment, HVAC.

I dig it. The iPad screen as people call it doesn’t really bother me. Interesting how they went with dual side tailpipes for the 2.0 and not for the 3.0 TDI, stylistically.
Also, I’m curious if the new S4 will come with a stick.

As a B8 S4 owner I'm really curious. The interior center area doesn't appear too manual friendly though.

Yeah, plus it looks like it has an electronic parking brake. Makes me a little sad.

For the record I really like it.

the current S4 (with manual) has an electreonic parking brake.
as does that new alfa

I actually really like it. It’s not radically different in design but it’s a little more matured and I think it looks better than the rather childish design of the 3/4-Series, specifically the M3/4.
The iPad screen isn’t great but it’s not quite as bad as some other cars. I’d rather have the screen integrated completely into the instrument cluster like in the new TT.

Electronic parking brakes are weird to me. I mean, I was trained for that to be my emergency brake in case my other ones fail, and I don’t think an electronic one would be as good in those kinds of situations. Not enough control.

100% agreed.
also, as an emergancy brake, its much rather have a mechanical linkage then something electronic.

Completely agree! LOVE the new TT Screen. They could have also done a retractable one like in the A3 (unless this is and I can't tell)

Absolutely. More feel/reliability.

Absolutely. While in college I had a ‘01 Monte Carlo SS. Brakes failed (lines exploded due to rust...horrible design) on the Merritt parkway at 80 and had to use the emergency brake to stop.

That is a pretty modest exterior upgrade for “all new”

Looks good. Seeing some A3 in there. I really like the B8.5 though.

So much uglier than the old one.

Not bad - looks like a wider A3. The interior is busy though not ugly - but I agree, center console not manual friendly... (just have to get an S3!)

I added the image to this post. I like the looks, it’s not much a visual departure but I don’t think it needed to be. I can only hope they’ll sell the Avant here again, that could be a good candidate for my next car.

Out of curiosity what don't you like? The squinty tail lights are a little weird.

You're the bestest thank you. Not sure how to do that from my iPad.

The rear. The front. The grill is hideous. The lights are way too far. Too many angles everywhere.

You should be able to see a little wrench icon in the top right corner of the editor window, like so:
Tap the little arrow in the tool bar that shows up and the image icon will be there. You can either upload images from the device or insert them by URLs. The same functionality should be available for comments.

Yeah it very well could be a retractable screen, would make sense since it can be found in the A3/6/7/8 now.

It doesn’t look bad, which I thought was going to be the case based on previous leaks. At that time, I mostly took issue with the kinks in the headlights, but those look fine here - the overall exterior seems to be the same.
I like pretty much all of the interior aside from the bulky-looking gear selector; I haven’t driven a car with an iPad screen, so I don’t know how that’d effect my line of sight as I drive, but it’s otherwise fine by me.
I hope they played it close to the vest with the A5’s exterior as well - I quite like it as it is.

How many times can they make the same car?
![]() 06/28/2015 at 23:57 |

I like it. But what's the difference between that and the a3? They seem too close.

If they aren’t moving the A5 up to A6/A7 combo-pack, and introducing a steel-bodied Quattro Sport coupe with the 2.0T, a 6MT or DCT choice, and a torque vectoring differential, with a modest, but well crafted interior... not really caring much.

The more I stare, the less I think it’s retractable...Dammit

I’m going to have to go with probably on this one. The A4 might even come with a stick, every single generation of A4 had manual before it was available with manual across the trim levels so I would say there’s still hope.

That's a shame :( I like being able to put the screen away if I don't want it up.

Agreed. While my car was in the shop this past year I’ve had a new A3 & A6 Loaner. The retractable screen was fantastic.

The dash looks so much cleaner with the screen down:
